Linden Track: Important Preseason Information

 

    1.     The first day of practice is Monday, March 10th.

 

    2.     Practice will start at 2:40. Be on time! Be prepared to workout inside and/or outside. (Regardless of the weather.)

 

    3.     Get a good pair of running shoes. Leg and back injuries are much more common if you don’t wear quality running shoes. No spikes will be worn for the first two weeks of practice.

 

    4.     Parent Meeting Tuesday March 18th. We will have a meeting to discuss guidelines and expectations with you and your parents at 7:00 in the senior commons. Please let your parents know in advance!

 

    5.     If you are buying warm stuff to run in here are some tips:

 

                        --Nylon warm-ups are better than sweats. They cut the wind and are water resistant.

                        --Anything worn under your uniform in competition must be solid black.

                        --Most Under Armour brand will be an illegal uniform in the state of Michigan.

                           Your clothing can only have one logo (by MHSAA rule) and UA has two.

 

    6.     Unexcused absences from practice will not be tolerated.

 

    7.     Dressing for cold days outside:

 

                        --Hat and gloves are a must.

                        --Dress in layers so that you can peel off clothes as you warm-up.

                        --Wear socks! It will help you avoid blisters and frozen feet.

                        --You should feel chilly when you first step outside. If you are warm

                           before you start running, you will get too hot.

 

    8.     Bring a positive attitude to practice. If you can’t do that, please don’t join the team.

 

    9.     The schedule has been completed and is at highschoolsports.net. You will need to look under “Co-Ed Varsity Track.”

 

  10.     You must have a current physical on file in the athletic director’s office to begin practice.
