Welcome to Tech Prep and the SmartLab!

Tech Prep is an exploratory class where students will have an opportunity to work with different types of technology. They will have many choices over what they will do and learn. They will be able to explore projects that are both interesting and challenging.

Our SmartLab has 15 stations and a video production room. During the trimester students will rotate throughout the room to work on projects in mechanics and structures, multimedia and publishing, robotics, circuitry, science and data collection, computer graphics and computer simulation. Each project, or “engagement,” lasts 7 to 10 days.

Students will complete an Inspiration ePortfolio flowchart for each engagement, where they will record their daily activities and what they are learning. They will also record background information about the technology being used. At the end of each engagement there will be a SHARE FAIR where students share their projects with the rest of the class.

GRADES

Students will receive grades for their ePortfolios and SHARE FAIR presentations. Participation points will also be given.

Because all of the projects are completed in the SmartLab, there is no homework in Tech Prep.
