Mr. Rose’s   8th  Grade Social Studies

 

                                                                                                                               

The general curriculum for 8th grade Social Studies concentrates on history.

 

8th grade Text: The American Republic to 1877. Students will begin the school year by previewing how to use the textbook and review the six essential elements of geography. The rest of the year we are going to read and study United States history starting from the Revolutionary War period to approximately the early 1900’s. In combination with the textbook work, I will also use a variety of supplemental materials such as video’s, worksheets, note taking and projects. Depending on chapter length, tests will average one every 2 or 2 ½  weeks.

 

Grading  Scale

 

A+  above 100 %     B+  =  89-87 %      C+ = 79- 77 %      D+ = 69- 67 %

A   =  100-94 %       B    =  86-84 %       C  =  76- 74 %      D   = 66- 64 %

A-  =   93-90 %        B-  =  83- 80 %      C- =  73- 70 %      D- = 63 - 60 %

 

General Rules and Expectations:

 

1.     Students will respect the rights and property of the school and of others.

2.     Students are to follow classroom rules.

3.     Students are to be on class on time and be prepares for class, ie book,

pencil and paper.

4.     Student’s are expected to follow teacher directions, verbal and written.

5.     Homework is due on the assigned day. Students will be responsible for work missed for absences. Late work will be accepted for partial credit and only if turned in a reasonable amount of time.
