Welcome to my class!  I am looking forward to working with you this year.  I want this to be a very successful year for everyone so I would like to take the opportunity to communicate my policies and expectations to you.  Please feel free to call or e-mail me at any time with questions or concerns you might have.  My available conference time at school is from 8:13 – 9:08 a.m.  You can also call me before or after school.  Here is some information that will hopefully help your child get acquainted with my class.

Materials:  Folder or three-ring binder

                  Pencils

                  Paper

                  One subject notebook

                  Calculator

                  1-2 highlighters

                  Colored Pencils

Grading Policy:  A point system is used.  A letter grade is produced by finding what percent of the total possible points a student has.  I will give a progress report to each student every two weeks to bring home.  No student will fail if all work is turned in.

Expectations in my class:

-         Follow directions the first time they are given.

-         Bring book, notebook, binder, and pencil to class each day.

-         Be in the classroom when the tardy bell rings.

-         Stay in your seat until dismissed by the teacher.

-         Respect others

   Attendance:

Attendance in 7th and 8th grade is vitally important! Many activities are of a participation nature and therefore absences can be particularly disruptive to the progression of student’s learning.  Labs, lectures, note-taking sessions, films, demonstrations, cooperative learning activities, and class discussion are difficult, and frequently impossible for a student to “make-up.”  I sincerely urge you and your child to make every effort to schedule Dr./Dentist appointments, vacations, social events, etc. at times which will not conflict with regular school attendance.
