Each students will need: a 1 ½” three ring binder (to be left in class)
a set binder section separators (8 per pack)
pen, pencil daily
The teacher will supply: three hole paper
texts and supplemental materials

Student
must bring to class daily the Assignment Planner provided by the school.
Themes
and Lessons:
· Novels: Students will read a novel for 2
report periods, record information of the novel on a Reading Log and present a
final report at the end of the report period.
· Grammar: Students will complete
assignments to improve writing mechanics.
·
· Class Novels: Students will read together
and answer questions about story elements and story comprehension.
· Biography Report: Students will research,
read about, and report on a famous person.
· Reporting: Students will read non-fiction
book and report on the information
· Exploring the Titanic: Students will read short plays and the
text selection answering comprehension and vocabulary questions, and sequencing
skills.
Evaluations
and Assessments: Students will demonstrate mastery of a lesson through
· Daily Class Participation.
o Students should always come prepared with
all materials needed for class. This
will include their planner, pencil/pen, binder and novel or assigned reading
selection.
· Completion of and turning in assignments,
homework, and projects.
· Written tests.
· Oral presentations.
If a student needs additional assistance,
I am available before school. I often stay after school,
however it is best for a student to check with me before making arrangements to
stay late. Assignments from times of absences should be made up within a
reasonable time. If a student is absent for more than one day in a row,
it is helpful for students to arrange to have assignments picked up from school
so they do not get further behind.
