Talented
Talons Math
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to 6th Grade Math with Ms. Beckman on the
Talented Talons Team. I believe communication between teachers and parents is
one of the keys to student success, especially during the transition to the Middle
School.
The following are several ways for parents to stay informed
on classroom progress and activities.
- Daily
homework assignments and tests dates are available via Parent Web
- Parents
can also access grades throughout the trimester via Parent Web
- Students
will receive progress reports every two weeks
- Students
are expected to fill in their planners with daily homework assignments and
test dates
- At the
beginning of the year I will be sending home by mail Missing Assignment Alerts every time a student neglects to
complete a homework assignment. The students will then need to complete
the missing assignment and have their parent sign the form and return it
to school. My goal is to decrease
the amount of missing work. I’ll evaluate the success of the program
before our first parent/teacher conference and let you if it will continue
further into the year..
- I’m
available for phone calls during my conference time, 1:08-2:02, and
welcome emails with questions or concerns at anytime.
Classroom Supplies Specific to Math
- Students need to bring to school 10
pocket folders with 3-hole tabs in the center. These will be collected and then
distributed throughout the year for each chapter’s notebook. Please do not
buy fancy folders as the students will probably not get the exact same
folder back that they purchased.
- Pencils,
Pencils, Pencils (No pens allowed
in math class)
Homework Expectaions
Students should expect homework 4 days a week. There will be time to start each assignment
in class with time also available during study skills. One “oops” assignment will be allowed each
trimester, which allows a student to turn in one late assignment for full
credit. Otherwise missing work will be
accepted for ½ credit within the current chapter’s
time frame.
I am looking forward to meeting and working with everyone to
make this the most successful 6th grade experience possible.
Sincerely,
Ms. Brenda Beckman
