All students at Linden High School are encouraged to plug into reading through the addition of time for silent sustained-reading built into our English Department curriculum. Students are invited to bring a book from home for reading or borrow a book from the high school's Media Center.
In addition, all Freshmen are taught how to use the online library catalog and access our extensive digital collection from any location and on any device. Students in Mr. DeLeon's, Mr. Schneider's, Mrs. Mueller's and Mrs. Draper's American Literature course and Dr. George's Advanced American Literature course participate in a tour of the Media Center and learn how to use the online library catalog to navigate the physical library.
"I enjoy sharing a love of reading with my students. From engaging students with book talk activities to discussing what we are each reading in class, our community of active readers has really grown," says Mr. DeLeon. DeLeon believes being a part of a thriving reading community greatly benefits students in and out of the classroom.
