Mrs. Yankley's ninth- and tenth-grade students started a beverage business called The Linden Grind. The idea was presented and approved by school administration. Students in the high school's graphic arts class competed to create the winning logo for the beverage business.
Mrs. Yankley's class sported shirts with their company logo while selling beverages at the high school during 5th hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The students worked several months to meet their goal and enjoyed a day out at Comerica Park on May 18th to watch the Detroit Tigers take on the Baltimore Orioles.
The Tigers won and so did our students through this great learning experience. Social skills, money handling and business responsibilities were modeled and reinforced. Students and faculty look forward to running and supporting this business next year.
